A

Grading & Quality

AAA

The standard commercial cannabis grade, offering decent potency and a consistent, reliable experience at an accessible price.

AAA is reliable and accessible, making it a common everyday choice; minor imperfections like a slightly looser structure or less intense aroma are normal at this grade and don’t indicate a flawed product.

Grading & Quality

AAAA (“Quads”)

A premium cannabis grade with heavier trichome coverage, a smoother smoke, and a more pronounced aroma than AAA.

The jump in experience from AAA to AAAA is usually the most noticeable step on the grading scale: smoother smoke, a cleaner-burning ash, and flavor that actually lingers after the exhale.

Grading & Quality

AAAA+

A rare, small-batch grade representing the top tier of the market for aroma, trichome coverage, and overall experience.

This tier is genuinely rare and usually reserved for special occasions rather than everyday use, since small-batch craft cultivation at this level commands a real premium.

Bongs and Such

Airtight Storage

Sealed glass containers that protect cannabis from light, air, and moisture, all of which degrade potency and aroma.

Plastic bags carry a static charge that can actually pull trichomes off of buds over time, which is one of several reasons a glass jar is considered the better long-term storage choice.

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Albino Penis Envy

A pale-colored variant of Penis Envy, known for a strong, intense psychedelic effect.

The albino variant shares Penis Envy’s intensity but with a lighter, almost white coloring, and is generally approached with the same caution as its parent strain.

Bongs and Such

Ash Catcher

An attachment placed between the bowl and the bong that pre-filters ash and debris before smoke reaches the main chamber.

An ash catcher sits between the bowl and the main chamber, catching debris before it reaches the water and keeping the bong itself cleaner for longer.

B

Concentrates & Extraction

Badder

A whipped, creamy concentrate with a texture between wax and sauce.

Badder sits texturally between wax and sauce, whipped to a smooth, cake-batter-like consistency that’s easy to scoop and load.

Concentrates & Extraction

Banger

The heated surface on a dab rig where concentrate is vaporized, typically made of quartz or titanium.

Quartz bangers heat up faster and retain flavor better, while titanium bangers are more durable and slower to lose heat, making the choice mostly about priorities rather than one being strictly better.

Bongs and Such

Beaker Base

A wide, flask-shaped bong base that holds more water and keeps the piece stable.

The wide, flask-like shape of a beaker base isn’t just aesthetic, it also lowers the piece’s center of gravity, making it noticeably harder to accidentally knock over than a straight-tube design.

Concentrates & Extraction

BHO (Butane Hash Oil)

A concentrate made using butane as a solvent to extract cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant.

Shatter, wax, crumble, and budder are all technically forms of BHO; the differences between them come down to how the oil is purged and agitated after extraction, not the solvent itself.

Bongs and Such

Blunt

An oversized joint rolled in a tobacco wrap rather than standard rolling paper.

Because the tobacco wrap is thicker than standard rolling paper, blunts burn slower and hold considerably more flower than a typical joint, making them a common choice for sharing among a group.

Effects & Experience

Body High

A heavy, physically relaxing effect typically associated with indica strains.

A body high is what most people are chasing with an evening indica: heavy relaxation, muscle ease, and a mind that’s ready to slow down rather than stay sharp.

Bongs and Such

Bong / Water Pipe

A smoking device that filters and cools smoke through water before inhalation.

Water filtration is the whole appeal of a bong: pulling smoke through water cools it almost instantly, which is why bong hits tend to feel much smoother than a dry pipe or joint.

Bongs and Such

Bong Cleaner Solution

A pre-mixed cleaning product designed to dissolve resin buildup inside glass pieces without needing alcohol and salt.

A dedicated cleaning solution skips the shake-and-rinse process of alcohol and salt, offering a faster option for keeping a piece resin-free between deeper cleanings.

Bongs and Such

Bowl

The part of a bong or pipe where ground cannabis is packed and lit.

Packing a bowl too tightly restricts airflow, while packing it too loosely burns through material too fast; a medium, even pack tends to give the best draw.

Legal, Delivery & Purchasing

BUD BUCKS

Bud Dash’s loyalty program, crediting 10% of a purchase back as rewards that can be used on future orders.

BUD BUCKS accrue automatically on every qualifying order once an account is created, with no minimum spend or invite required to start earning.

C

Cannabis Chemistry

Cannabinoid

Any of the chemical compounds found in cannabis, including THC, CBD, and dozens of others that interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system.

More than 100 different cannabinoids have been identified in the cannabis plant, though THC and CBD are by far the most studied and most present in commercial flower.

Legal, Delivery & Purchasing

Cannabis Act (Canada)

The federal law that legalized and regulates recreational cannabis in Canada.

The Cannabis Act legalized recreational cannabis nationwide in October 2018, though each province still sets its own rules for retail, minimum age, and possession limits within that federal framework.

Edibles & Dosing

Cannabis-Infused Chocolate

A chocolate edible format, often chosen for its ability to mask the plant’s natural taste.

Rich flavors like chocolate can sometimes mask the earlier signs of onset more than a lighter edible would, so extra patience before considering more is worth the reminder.

Edibles & Dosing

Capsule (THC)

A pre-measured, swallowable THC dose in pill form, offering consistent dosing without any taste.

Capsules go through the same digestive process as any other edible, so the same onset window and dosing patience apply, just without any flavor to think about.

Concentrates & Extraction

Carb Cap

A small cap placed over a banger while dabbing to trap heat and vaporize concentrate more efficiently.

Using a carb cap allows a dab to be taken at a lower temperature than an uncapped hit, which most experienced users find preserves flavor significantly better.

See also: BangerDabbing
Bongs and Such

Carb Hole

A small hole on a pipe that, when covered and released, controls airflow to clear the chamber of smoke.

Covering the carb hole while lighting builds up smoke in the chamber, then releasing it clears everything in one full inhale, a mechanic mostly found on simpler hand pipes rather than bongs.

Cannabis Chemistry

Caryophyllene

A spicy, peppery terpene known for a calming effect without heaviness.

Caryophyllene is unusual among terpenes in that it can also interact directly with the body’s CB2 receptors, which is part of why it’s often linked to a calming effect that doesn’t come with heaviness.

Cannabis Chemistry

CBD (Cannabidiol)

A non-intoxicating cannabinoid known for calming, anti-inflammatory properties, doesn’t produce a high on its own.

Many shoppers use CBD-forward products specifically because they want the therapeutic, relaxing qualities of cannabis without a strong high. CBD is also being studied for its ability to soften some of THC’s more intense effects when the two are combined.

Cannabis Chemistry

CBG (Cannabigerol)

A non-intoxicating cannabinoid sometimes called the “mother cannabinoid,” since other cannabinoids are synthesized from it as the plant grows.

CBG appears early in the plant’s flowering cycle before enzymes convert it into THC and CBD, which is why mature flower typically contains only trace amounts of it. It doesn’t produce a high on its own.

Cannabis Chemistry

CBN (Cannabinol)

A mildly psychoactive cannabinoid formed as THC ages and oxidizes, often associated with sedating effects.

Because it forms as cannabis ages, older or less freshly cured flower will naturally carry a bit more CBN. Some sleep-focused products intentionally include added CBN to lean into its drowsy reputation, though the research on its sedative effect specifically is still limited.

Bongs and Such

Chillum / One-Hitter

A small, straight pipe designed for a single quick hit, easy to carry and conceal.

A chillum’s small size makes it easy to pack a single quick hit and just as easy to tuck away afterward, which is why it’s a common pick for discreet, on-the-go use.

Clearance

Clearance

Discounted product being moved out of inventory, often due to overstock or an approaching shelf-life window.

Clearance pricing is usually the fastest way to try a higher grade or new format at a lower cost, though stock at these prices tends to move quickly.

Vapes

Coil

The heating element inside a vape cartridge or disposable that vaporizes the oil.

Lower, more controlled heat from a well-calibrated coil generally produces better flavor and a smoother draw than a coil running too hot.

Cannabis Chemistry

Cola

The dense flower cluster that forms at the top of a cannabis plant’s main stem.

The main, or “apical,” cola at the very top of the plant typically gets the most direct light and grows into the largest, densest bud, which is why top-cola flower is usually priced higher than lower buds.

Concentrates & Extraction

Concentrate

A concentrated cannabis extract, such as shatter or live resin, made by isolating cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant.

Because the plant’s bulk material is stripped away, a strong flower testing at 20-25% THC becomes a concentrate typically testing between 60% and 90%, meaning far less product is needed for the same effect.

Legal, Delivery & Purchasing

Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

The federal law under which psilocybin and other controlled substances remain illegal outside of approved exemptions.

Unlike cannabis, psilocybin has no general legal retail pathway in Canada under the CDSA; the only exemptions are narrow ones for approved medical and research use.

Effects & Experience

Couch-Lock

A state of deep physical relaxation, often from a strong indica, where getting up and moving feels difficult.

Couch-lock isn’t dangerous, just very heavy relaxation, and it’s exactly the effect some shoppers are specifically looking for on a night with nothing else planned.

Grading & Quality

Craft Cannabis

Small-batch cannabis grown with extra attention at every stage, from cultivation through curing.

Craft growers typically work in small batches specifically to give more individual attention to each plant, from feeding schedule through to the final cure.

Concentrates & Extraction

Crumble

A dry, crumbly concentrate with a texture between wax and shatter.

Crumble gets its dry, honeycomb-like texture from an extended low-heat purge, which also makes it easy to sprinkle onto flower for an extra potency boost.

Bongs and Such

Crutch (Filter Tip)

A small paper mouthpiece at the end of a joint that keeps loose flower out of the smoker’s mouth.

A crutch also gives a joint a solid, stable place to hold onto and helps it keep its shape as it burns down, rather than collapsing as it gets shorter.

Strains & Genetics

Cultivar / Strain

A specific cannabis variety bred and maintained for consistent aroma, appearance, and effect.

“Strain” is the more common term among shoppers, while “cultivar” is increasingly used in more technical or licensed-producer contexts to describe the same thing: a distinct, named variety of cannabis.

Grading & Quality

Cure / Curing

The controlled post-harvest drying process that develops a bud’s final aroma, flavor, and smoothness.

A properly cured bud should snap cleanly at the stem without crumbling to dust; skipping or rushing the cure is one of the most common reasons flower smells or tastes flat.

D

Bongs and Such

Dab Rig

A water pipe built specifically for vaporizing concentrates rather than dry flower.

A dab rig is built specifically for concentrates rather than dry flower, usually featuring a banger instead of a bowl and often a smaller water chamber than a standard bong.

Concentrates & Extraction

Dab Tool

A small metal or glass instrument used to handle and load concentrate onto a heated dab rig surface.

A good dab tool has a small, precise tip, since accurately portioning a dab matters more with concentrates than with almost any other format.

See also: DabbingBanger
Concentrates & Extraction

Dabbing

The process of vaporizing a small amount of concentrate on a heated surface and inhaling it through a dab rig.

Because concentrates are so much stronger than flower, a proper dab is a small amount, roughly the size of a grain of rice, not a full bowl-sized portion.

Concentrates & Extraction

Diamonds

Crystalline formations of nearly pure THCA, among the most potent concentrate formats available.

THCA diamonds are typically dabbed on their own or combined with terpene sauce for flavor, since the crystals themselves carry very little aroma.

Vapes

Disposable Vape

An all-in-one vape device with the battery, heating element, and oil sealed together in a single unit.

A disposable’s biggest appeal is the total lack of setup: no battery to charge beforehand and nothing to clean or maintain once the oil runs out.

Concentrates & Extraction

Distillate

A highly purified, nearly flavorless cannabis extract that isolates THC at very high potency.

Distillate’s lack of flavor is exactly the point for some users; it’s the base for most flavorless vape cartridges and taste-free edibles on the market.

Vapes

Distillate Cartridge

A vape cartridge filled with purified THC distillate rather than live resin or full-spectrum oil.

A distillate cartridge trades some of live resin’s fuller flavor for a cleaner, more consistent, and usually more affordable option.

Edibles & Dosing

Distillate Gummy

A gummy made with purified THC distillate, carrying almost no cannabis taste.

Because distillate strips out the plant’s natural terpenes along with the flavor, distillate gummies rely entirely on added fruit flavoring to taste good.

Bongs and Such

Downstem

The tube in a bong that carries smoke down into the water.

The downstem is what actually submerges the smoke into the water; without it, a bong is really just a chamber with no filtration happening at all.

Vapes

Draw-Activated Sensor

The mechanism in a disposable vape that automatically fires the heating element when the user inhales.

This sensor is what lets a disposable vape work with zero buttons; the device detects airflow the moment someone inhales and fires automatically.

E

Edibles & Dosing

Edible

Any cannabis-infused food or drink, such as gummies, chocolate, or beverage mixes.

Edibles process through the digestive system rather than the lungs, which means a much longer wait for effects but a longer, heavier experience once they arrive.

Cannabis Chemistry

Entourage Effect

The theory that cannabinoids and terpenes work more effectively together than any single compound does on its own.

This is why a full-spectrum product, one that retains its natural terpenes and minor cannabinoids, is often reported to feel different from an isolated, single-compound product even at the same THC percentage.

F

Clearance

Final Sale

A label on deeply discounted items indicating the purchase cannot be returned or exchanged.

Final sale terms are standard for clearance-priced cannabis products industry-wide, largely due to regulations around reselling or returning cannabis once it’s left the store.

Edibles & Dosing

Full-Spectrum Extract

A cannabis extract that retains the plant’s natural terpenes and minor cannabinoids alongside THC.

Full-spectrum products are the ones most associated with the entourage effect, since they preserve more of what the original plant actually contained beyond just THC.

G

Strains & Genetics

Genetic Cross

A deliberate breeding of two cannabis strains to combine specific traits from both parent plants.

Breeders cross strains for many reasons: to boost potency, sharpen a particular flavor, increase yield, or combine a desirable daytime effect with a hardier growing plant.

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Golden Teacher

A widely available psilocybin mushroom strain known for moderate potency and a calm, introspective effect, popular as a starting point for beginners.

Golden Teacher’s reputation as a beginner-friendly strain comes from its predictable, moderate potency, sitting comfortably in the middle of the strength range compared to more intense strains.

Grading & Quality

Greenhouse-Grown

Cannabis cultivated under controlled greenhouse conditions, typically priced between indoor and outdoor grows.

Greenhouse cultivation gives growers more control over light and climate than a fully outdoor grow while costing less than a fully indoor setup, which is reflected in the price sitting between the two.

Effects & Experience

Greening Out

An uncomfortable overconsumption reaction involving nausea, dizziness, and anxiety, most often from a too-strong edible.

Greening out is genuinely unpleasant but not medically dangerous on its own; it typically resolves within a few hours with rest, water, and a calm environment.

Legal, Delivery & Purchasing

Grey Market

A distribution channel for products sold outside official regulatory approval, without oversight from the licensed retail system.

A grey market product isn’t necessarily unsafe, but it also hasn’t gone through the same mandatory testing and oversight as a fully licensed one, which is the core risk shoppers take on.

Bongs and Such

Grinder

A tool used to break cannabis flower into an even, fine texture before smoking.

An even, medium grind burns more consistently than flower torn apart by hand, which is part of why a decent grinder is considered one of the most essential basic accessories.

See also: BowlJoint
Edibles & Dosing

Gummy

A chewable, fruit-flavored cannabis edible, the most common edible format on the market.

Fruit-based gummies are especially good at masking cannabis’s natural earthy flavor, which is part of why they’re the most popular edible format for people who dislike the taste of the plant itself.

H

Grading & Quality

Hand-Trimmed vs Machine-Trimmed

A comparison of trimming methods; hand-trimming preserves bud structure and trichomes better than faster machine-trimming.

Hand-trimming takes longer and costs more to produce, but a machine-trimmed bud that looks visibly choppy is generally considered a mark against the grade regardless of what the label claims.

Concentrates & Extraction

Hash

A traditional concentrate made by compressing trichomes into a solid block or paste.

Hash is one of the oldest cannabis concentrates in the world, traditionally made by hand-rubbing or sieving trichomes before pressing them into a solid form.

Effects & Experience

Head High

A cerebral, energizing effect typically associated with sativa strains, felt more in the mind than the body.

A head high is the effect most associated with sativa and limonene-forward strains: mental energy, elevated mood, and a lighter physical feeling that keeps you moving rather than sitting still.

Bongs and Such

Humidity Pack

A small packet placed in a storage container to maintain the right moisture level for cannabis flower.

A humidity pack works passively, releasing or absorbing moisture as needed to hold a jar around the ideal 55-62% relative humidity range for stored flower.

Strains & Genetics

Hybrid

A cannabis strain bred by crossing indica and sativa genetics, combining traits from both parents.

The overwhelming majority of strains on any modern shelf, including nearly everything at Bud Dash, are technically hybrids to some degree, since decades of crossbreeding have made truly pure indica or sativa genetics extremely rare.

1

Edibles & Dosing

11-Hydroxy-THC

The more potent compound the liver converts THC into after an edible is digested, responsible for the heavier body high edibles produce.

This liver conversion is the core reason edibles feel so different from smoking: 11-hydroxy-THC crosses the blood-brain barrier more efficiently than inhaled THC, producing a heavier, longer-lasting effect from what looks like the same dose.

I

Concentrates & Extraction

Ice Water Hash / Bubble Hash

A solventless concentrate made by separating trichomes from flower using ice water and fine mesh screens.

The “bubble” in bubble hash refers to how a high-quality piece should bubble when heated, a visual indicator of purity that graders and shoppers both look for.

Strains & Genetics

Indica

A cannabis type traditionally associated with heavier physical relaxation, often used in the evening.

The indica/sativa split originally described the plant’s physical shape, not its effects, but the terms have become shorthand for expected experience over decades of use. In practice, a strain’s actual terpene profile predicts its effects more reliably than the indica label alone.

Strains & Genetics

Indica-Dominant Hybrid

A hybrid strain with a greater share of indica genetics, offering physical relaxation without heavy mental fog.

This category is a common recommendation for evening use, since it delivers the physical relaxation people want from an indica while staying more manageable than a heavy, pure indica strain.

Edibles & Dosing

Infused Beverage

A drink, such as tea or a soda, infused with THC or CBD.

Infused drinks tend to have a faster onset than baked goods or gummies, since liquids generally move through the stomach more quickly than solid food.

Pre Rolls

Infused Pre-Roll

A pre-roll dipped or packed with concentrate, such as kief, hash, or distillate, for extra potency beyond flower alone.

Adding concentrate to a pre-roll noticeably raises its potency above flower alone, so an infused pre-roll is generally treated as a stronger product than a standard one of the same size.

J

Bongs and Such

Joint

Ground cannabis rolled in paper for smoking.

Rolling a consistent joint takes some practice, mainly in grinding the flower evenly and controlling how tightly the paper is packed, but it remains one of the simplest ways to smoke cannabis with no extra gear required.

K

Cannabis Chemistry

Kief

The loose, powdery resin collected from trichomes, typically gathered at the bottom of a grinder.

Because kief is essentially pure trichome material, it’s significantly more potent by weight than the flower it came from, and it’s often sprinkled on top of a bowl or joint for an extra kick.

See also: TrichomeHash
Pre Rolls

King-Size Pre-Roll

A larger-format pre-roll made with more flower than a standard-size joint.

A king-size pre-roll is built for a longer session or for sharing, holding noticeably more flower than a standard single-size joint.

L

Legal, Delivery & Purchasing

Lab-Tested / Third-Party Tested

A designation for a product verified by an independent laboratory unaffiliated with the manufacturer, confirming potency and the absence of contaminants.

Third-party testing specifically means the lab has no financial relationship with the producer, which is what makes its results more trustworthy than in-house testing alone.

Strains & Genetics

Landrace Strain

A cannabis variety that developed naturally in a specific region over generations, without deliberate human breeding.

Well-known landrace lineages, like those from the Hindu Kush region, form the genetic backbone of countless modern hybrids, even though the original, unmixed landrace itself is now hard to find commercially.

Legal, Delivery & Purchasing

Licensed Producer

A cannabis grower or manufacturer authorized under Canadian federal law to cultivate and sell regulated product.

Buying from a licensed producer or a retailer that sources from one is the main way shoppers can be confident a cannabis product has actually been through mandatory quality and safety testing.

Clearance

Limited Stock

A notice that very few units remain of a specific product or batch.

A limited stock notice is worth acting on quickly if the product is one you already wanted, since clearance and low-stock items typically aren’t restocked once they sell out.

Cannabis Chemistry

Limonene

A bright, citrus terpene associated with uplifted mood and energy.

Limonene is the same terpene responsible for the smell of citrus peels, and strains high in it tend to be associated with a brighter, more sociable mood rather than heavy sedation.

Concentrates & Extraction

Live Resin

A flavorful concentrate made from fresh-frozen cannabis plants rather than dried and cured flower, preserving more terpenes.

Because the plant is frozen immediately after harvest rather than dried and cured first, live resin captures a terpene profile that’s closer to what the living plant actually smelled and tasted like.

Concentrates & Extraction

Live Rosin

A solventless concentrate pressed from fresh-frozen flower using heat and pressure, prized for its purity and flavor.

Live rosin uses no chemical solvent at all, just heat and pressure, which is why it commands a premium price among concentrate connoisseurs who prioritize purity.

M

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Magic Mushroom

A common name for mushrooms that contain the psychoactive compound psilocybin.

Not every mushroom species contains psilocybin; the psychoactive compound is found in a specific group of fungi, with Psilocybe cubensis being the most commonly cultivated.

Legal, Delivery & Purchasing

Mail Order Cannabis

Cannabis shipped by mail to areas outside a retailer’s same-day local delivery zone.

Mail order is the standard option for anyone outside a retailer’s local same-day delivery zone, usually taking a couple of business days to arrive by comparison.

Edibles & Dosing

Microdose (Cannabis)

A very small, low-THC dose that produces a mild effect without significant impairment.

A cannabis microdose is typically in the 1-2.5mg THC range, low enough to support focus or mild stress relief without noticeably altering the rest of the day.

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Microdosing (Psilocybin)

Taking a very small, sub-perceptible dose of psilocybin on a regular schedule, without a noticeable psychedelic effect.

A psilocybin microdose is roughly one-tenth of a full trip’s dose, small enough that most people report no visual or perceptual changes at all.

Edibles & Dosing

Milligram (mg) Dosing

Measuring an edible’s strength by its exact THC milligram count rather than its size or serving count.

A large baked good can contain a small dose and a tiny gummy can contain a large one; the only number that actually matters for dosing is the milligram count printed on the label, not the physical size of the piece.

Legal, Delivery & Purchasing

Minimum Order

The smallest order total a retailer requires before a purchase can be completed.

A minimum order requirement is standard across most cannabis delivery services and typically applies the same way to both local same-day orders and mail order.

Pre Rolls

Multi-Pack Pre-Rolls

A bundle of several pre-rolled joints sold together, typically at a lower per-unit price than buying singles.

Buying a multi-pack is usually the better value for anyone who already knows they’ll smoke more than one, since the per-unit price typically drops compared to buying singles.

Cannabis Chemistry

Myrcene

An earthy, herbal terpene associated with sedating, relaxing effects, found in high concentrations in many indica strains.

Myrcene is one of the most common terpenes in cannabis overall, and it’s also found in mangoes, hops, and lemongrass. Its presence is a big part of why some strains labeled sativa can still feel unexpectedly sedating.

N

Edibles & Dosing

Nano-Emulsified THC

THC broken into microscopic particles for faster absorption, producing a quicker onset than standard edibles.

Nano-emulsification breaks THC oil into particles small enough to be absorbed faster by the body, which is why some nano products advertise onset times as quick as 15-30 minutes instead of the usual hour or more.

O

Effects & Experience

Onset Time

How long it takes for a product’s effects to appear after use, ranging from minutes when smoked to a couple of hours for edibles.

Misjudging onset time, especially with edibles, is the single most common reason people accidentally take too much; waiting out the full window before deciding to take more is the simplest way to avoid it.

Grading & Quality

Outdoor-Grown

Cannabis grown outside under natural sunlight, often a more budget-friendly option than indoor or greenhouse.

Outdoor cultivation depends entirely on natural sun and climate, which can produce excellent flower but with less consistency between harvests than a controlled indoor or greenhouse environment.

Clearance

Overstock

Inventory exceeding expected demand, commonly discounted to free up space for new arrivals.

Overstock isn’t a sign of lower quality, just more supply than immediate demand, which is exactly why it gets discounted rather than held at full price.

P

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Penis Envy

A potent psilocybin mushroom strain known for a stronger, more intense effect than many other strains.

Penis Envy is generally considered stronger than average and is more often recommended to people who already have some experience with psilocybin rather than as a first strain.

Bongs and Such

Percolator

An internal bong feature that breaks smoke into smaller bubbles for additional cooling and smoothness.

A percolator adds an extra stage of water filtration beyond the basic downstem, breaking smoke into finer bubbles for a noticeably smoother pull, though the added glasswork also makes the piece harder to clean.

Strains & Genetics

Phenotype

The observable traits of an individual cannabis plant, such as color, smell, and structure, shaped by genetics and growing conditions.

Two plants grown from seeds of the exact same cross can still turn out noticeably different from each other; growers sometimes select and propagate a particularly strong phenotype as its own stable cultivar going forward.

Cannabis Chemistry

Pinene

A pine-scented terpene associated with mental clarity and alertness.

Pinene is one of the most common terpenes in the natural world, found in pine needles, rosemary, and basil, and some research suggests it may help counter short-term memory fog sometimes associated with THC.

Grading & Quality

Popcorn Bud

Small, dense buds from the lower parts of the plant, typically sold at a lower price than top-cola flower.

Popcorn buds aren’t lower quality in composition, just smaller in size, which makes them a genuinely good value pick for anyone who doesn’t mind a less photogenic bud.

See also: ColaAAA
Pre Rolls

Pre-Roll

A cannabis joint sold already rolled and ready to smoke.

A pre-roll skips the entire rolling process, machine- or hand-rolled ahead of time and ready to light straight from the package.

Pre Rolls

Pre-Roll Tube

The small protective tube pre-rolls are commonly packaged in, keeping the joint fresh and intact until use.

A pre-roll tube does double duty, protecting the joint in transit and also making it easy to reseal and save part of it for later.

Clearance

Promo Code

A code entered at checkout to apply a discount, sometimes combinable with clearance pricing.

Stacking a promo code on top of an already-discounted clearance item is sometimes possible depending on the specific promotion’s terms, so it’s always worth trying at checkout.

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Psilocin

The active compound the body converts psilocybin into, responsible for the psychedelic effect.

Psilocin closely resembles serotonin in molecular structure, which is why it interacts so strongly with the same brain receptors involved in mood and perception.

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Psilocybe Cubensis

The most widely cultivated species of psilocybin mushroom, the source of most “magic mushroom” strains.

Nearly every named magic mushroom strain sold commercially, including Golden Teacher and Penis Envy, is a cultivar of Psilocybe cubensis rather than a separate species.

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Psilocybin

The naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in magic mushrooms.

Psilocybin itself is largely inactive until the body metabolizes it into psilocin, which is the compound actually responsible for the psychedelic effect.

Effects & Experience

Psychoactive

Describes a substance that affects mental state, perception, or mood, such as THC or psilocybin.

A substance being psychoactive doesn’t automatically mean it produces euphoria; CBD is technically non-intoxicating even though it does interact with the body’s systems.

R

Bongs and Such

RAW Cone

A pre-rolled, unbleached paper cone that only needs to be packed with ground flower.

A pre-rolled cone skips the trickiest part of hand-rolling, the tuck, since the paper is already shaped; all that’s left to do is pack it with ground flower.

Bongs and Such

Rolling Papers

Thin paper sheets used to roll ground cannabis into a joint.

Rolling paper material affects the smoking experience directly: hemp and flax burn slower with a natural taste, while rice paper burns cleanest with almost no ash.

Bongs and Such

Rolling Tray

A flat surface used to lay out flower and supplies while rolling, catching loose pieces.

A rolling tray isn’t strictly necessary, but it makes a real difference in not wasting ground flower that would otherwise scatter across a table.

See also: GrinderJoint
Concentrates & Extraction

Rosin Press

A machine that uses heat and pressure to squeeze solventless concentrate directly from flower or hash.

A rosin press can be a small handheld tool or a large commercial machine, but the principle is identical at any scale: heat and pressure squeeze the oil out of the plant material.

S

Legal, Delivery & Purchasing

Same-Day Delivery

Local courier delivery that arrives the same day an order is placed, typically within one to two hours.

Same-day delivery typically requires an order placed before a daily cutoff time; anything after that rolls over to the next available delivery window instead.

Strains & Genetics

Sativa

A cannabis type traditionally associated with uplifting, mentally energizing effects, often used during the day.

True landrace sativas are increasingly rare in the modern market; most cannabis sold today, including anything labeled “pure sativa,” carries at least some hybrid ancestry.

Strains & Genetics

Sativa-Dominant Hybrid

A hybrid strain with a greater share of sativa genetics, offering mental clarity with some body relaxation.

This is often the preferred option for people who want daytime energy without the anxious, over-stimulated feeling that a purer sativa can sometimes bring.

Concentrates & Extraction

Sauce (Terp Sauce)

A concentrate combining THCA crystals suspended in a terpene-rich liquid, prized for strong flavor.

Sauce is often paired visually and functionally with diamonds, combining the crystal’s raw potency with the sauce’s much stronger terpene flavor.

See also: DiamondsTerpene
Edibles & Dosing

Serving Size (Edibles)

The recommended single-dose portion of an edible, typically indicated on the packaging by milligram count rather than piece count.

A package’s total milligram count and its per-serving milligram count are two different numbers; checking both before eating an entire package at once matters more than it seems.

Effects & Experience

Set and Setting

A person’s mental state and physical environment before using cannabis or psilocybin, both of which shape the experience.

This concept is borrowed from psychedelic research but applies just as well to cannabis: a calm, familiar environment tends to produce a more predictable, comfortable experience than a stressful or unfamiliar one.

Concentrates & Extraction

Shatter

A translucent, glass-like concentrate that snaps cleanly when broken, made through an undisturbed solvent purge.

The name comes from its texture: a properly made piece will fracture cleanly like glass when tapped or dropped, rather than bending or crumbling.

Concentrates & Extraction

Solventless Extraction

A method of producing concentrate using only heat, pressure, or water, without chemical solvents.

Solventless concentrates like live rosin and bubble hash are generally considered the cleanest category available, since nothing but the plant, water, heat, and pressure ever touches the final product.

Edibles & Dosing

Start Low Go Slow

The standard harm-reduction guidance to begin with a small dose and wait before taking more.

This guidance exists specifically because of how long edibles take to kick in; taking a second dose before the first has fully arrived is the most common mistake new users make.

Edibles & Dosing

Sublingual Absorption

Absorbing cannabis compounds through the tissue under the tongue, working faster than swallowing an edible whole.

This absorption route is why tinctures and dissolvable strips kick in faster than a swallowed gummy or capsule, even though all three are technically edibles.

Cannabis Chemistry

Terpene

An aromatic oil produced by the cannabis plant, responsible for a strain’s characteristic smell and flavor, and a contributor to how its effects feel.

The same terpenes that shape cannabis aroma also occur throughout the plant world, which is why a citrus-forward strain can smell genuinely like oranges or an earthy strain can smell like a forest floor. Terpene content is one of the clearest ways to predict how a strain will actually feel.

Strains & Genetics

Terpene Profile

The specific combination and ratio of terpenes in a strain, largely determining its aroma and the character of its effects.

Two strains with an identical THC percentage can feel completely different depending on their terpene profile, which is why experienced shoppers check terpene data, not just potency, before buying.

Effects & Experience

Terpene-Driven Effects

The idea that a strain’s terpene profile, not just its indica/sativa label, is what actually shapes how it feels.

This is why two strains that are both labeled “sativa” can feel completely different from each other; the specific terpene mix, not the category label, is doing most of the work.

Cannabis Chemistry

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)

The primary psychoactive compound in cannabis, responsible for the “high” and most of the plant’s intoxicating effects.

THC binds to CB1 receptors concentrated in the brain and central nervous system, which is what produces the euphoric, perception-shifting effects associated with cannabis. Potency is usually listed as a percentage on product labels, and higher THC content generally, though not always, means a stronger effect.

Edibles & Dosing

THC Edible

An edible infused specifically with THC, producing intoxicating effects after digestion.

Unlike smoking, where dosing is adjusted puff by puff, a THC edible’s full dose is locked in the moment it’s swallowed, which is exactly why patience with onset time matters so much.

Concentrates & Extraction

THCA (Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid)

The non-intoxicating precursor to THC found in raw cannabis, converting to THC when heated.

Raw cannabis flower actually contains very little active THC until it’s exposed to heat, whether that’s smoking, vaping, or baking, a process called decarboxylation that converts THCA into THC.

Vapes

510 Thread

The universal cartridge threading standard that lets most cartridges work with most batteries regardless of brand.

The 510 standard is why a cartridge bought from one brand will almost always screw onto a battery from a completely different one, unlike some proprietary vape systems.

Edibles & Dosing

Tincture

A liquid cannabis extract taken by placing drops under the tongue or adding to food and drink.

Holding a tincture under the tongue for absorption gives a faster onset than swallowing an edible outright, since the compounds enter the bloodstream directly through the mouth’s tissue rather than going through digestion first.

Effects & Experience

Tolerance

A reduced response to cannabis that develops with regular use, requiring more product to achieve the same effect.

A short tolerance break, sometimes just a few days, is a common way regular users reset their sensitivity and get more out of a smaller amount again.

Bongs and Such

Torch / E-Rig

A heating tool used to bring a dab rig’s surface to the right temperature for vaporizing concentrate.

A torch needs to heat the banger and then cool for a specific window before dabbing for the best flavor, which is exactly the extra step an e-rig automates with a built-in heating element.

Cannabis Chemistry

Trichome

The tiny, crystal-like resin glands on the surface of cannabis flower that produce cannabinoids and terpenes.

Trichome density is one of the clearest visual signals of quality graders look for; a heavier, frostier coating usually points to a more potent, more flavorful bud.

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Trip

The full psychedelic experience produced by psilocybin, typically lasting several hours.

A full trip typically has a clear arc: onset, a peak a couple of hours in, and a gradual return to baseline, with the whole experience commonly running four to six hours depending on dose and strain.

Magic Mushrooms & Psilocybin

Trip Sitter

A sober, trusted person who stays present during someone else’s psychedelic experience in case support is needed.

A trip sitter doesn’t need to do much beyond simply being present, sober, and available; their role is mostly reassurance rather than active management.

Vapes

Vape Battery

The reusable power source that heats a cartridge’s coil, sold separately from the oil-filled cartridge itself.

A good vape battery is usually a one-time purchase in the $20-40 range; after that, ongoing costs are just the oil itself, which is why cartridge setups are cheaper over time than repeatedly buying disposables.

Vapes

Vape Cartridge

A small, pre-filled container of cannabis oil that attaches to a reusable battery.

Because the battery is reusable, switching between cartridges is the main way vape users try different oils and strains without buying new hardware each time.

Vapes

Vaporization vs Combustion

A comparison of heating cannabis to release vapor versus burning it, which produces smoke.

Vaporizing heats oil or flower to release its active compounds without ever reaching the point of burning, which is why vaping tends to feel noticeably smoother on the throat than smoking.

Concentrates & Extraction

Wax / Budder

A concentrate with a soft, crumbly, or buttery texture, easier to handle than shatter.

Wax gets its softer texture from being agitated during the final stage of processing, which also trades a bit of shatter’s shelf stability for easier handling.
